test-gap-analysis

Performs pseudo-mutation analysis on production code in any language to find gaps in existing tests. Use when the user asks to find weak or shallow tests, discover untested edge cases, or check whether tests would catch a bug — e.g. "would my tests catch it if someone changed the code", "would a subtle logic or boundary change slip past the current tests", "are my tests strong enough to catch a subtle bug". Evaluates test effectiveness through mutation-style reasoning: analyzes mutation points (boundaries, boolean flips, null returns, exception removal, arithmetic changes) and checks whether tests would detect each. Polyglot: .NET, Python, TS/JS, Java, Go, Ruby, Rust, Swift, Kotlin, PowerShell, C++. DO NOT USE FOR: writing new tests (use code-testing-agent, or writing-mstest-tests for MSTest), detecting anti-patterns (use test-anti-patterns), measuring assertion diversity (use assertion-quality), or running actual mutation testing tools (Stryker, mutmut, PIT, cargo-mutants).

What does the test-gap-analysis skill do?

It's a reusable SKILL.md instruction set that loads into your AI coding assistant on demand, no prompt engineering, no copy-pasting every session.

How do I install the test-gap-analysis skill?

Run `npx @skills-hub-ai/cli install dotnet-test-gap-analysis` from your terminal. The CLI writes the SKILL.md to the correct location for your AI tool (e.g. ~/.claude/skills/dotnet-test-gap-analysis/ for Claude Code or ~/.cursor/skills/ for Cursor with --target cursor) and adds it to your project's .skills.json lockfile.

Which AI tools does test-gap-analysis work with?

test-gap-analysis runs in Claude Code. It follows the open Agent Skills standard (SKILL.md), so the same skill works in every supported tool without modification.

Is the test-gap-analysis skill free?

Yes. Every skill on skills-hub.ai is free and open-source. There are no premium tiers, paywalls, or usage limits. You only pay for whatever AI assistant you're already using.

How do I use test-gap-analysis after installing it?

In Claude Code, type `/dotnet-test-gap-analysis` (or whatever slash command the skill registers) and the AI follows the skill's instructions immediately. You can also reference it by name in natural language, your AI loads the skill into context when relevant.

Can I share the test-gap-analysis skill with my team?

Yes. Commit your project's .skills.json lockfile and teammates run `npx @skills-hub-ai/cli install` (no args) to install every skill at the exact version you pinned. Organization-scoped installs work via skills-hub.ai organizations.
