get-api-docs
Use this skill to get documentation for third-party APIs, SDKs or libraries before writing code that uses them to ensure you have the latest, most accurate documentation. This is a better way to find documentation than doing web search. This includes when a user asks for tasks like "use the OpenAI API", "call the Stripe API", "use the Anthropic SDK", "query Pinecone", or any other time the user asks you to write code against an external service and you need current API reference. Fetch the docs with chub before answering, rather than relying on your pre-trained knowledge, which may be outdated because of recent changes to these APIs. Be sure to use this skill when the user asks for the latest docs, latest API behavior, or explicitly mentions chub or Context Hub. Ensure `chub` is available, run `chub --help`, then follow the instructions there.

What does the get-api-docs skill do?
It's a reusable SKILL.md instruction set that loads into your AI coding assistant on demand, no prompt engineering, no copy-pasting every session.
How do I install the get-api-docs skill?
Run `npx @skills-hub-ai/cli install context-hub-get-api-docs` from your terminal. The CLI writes the SKILL.md to the correct location for your AI tool (e.g. ~/.claude/skills/context-hub-get-api-docs/ for Claude Code or ~/.cursor/skills/ for Cursor with --target cursor) and adds it to your project's .skills.json lockfile.
Which AI tools does get-api-docs work with?
get-api-docs runs in Claude Code. It follows the open Agent Skills standard (SKILL.md), so the same skill works in every supported tool without modification.
Is the get-api-docs skill free?
Yes. Every skill on skills-hub.ai is free and open-source. There are no premium tiers, paywalls, or usage limits. You only pay for whatever AI assistant you're already using.
How do I use get-api-docs after installing it?
In Claude Code, type `/context-hub-get-api-docs` (or whatever slash command the skill registers) and the AI follows the skill's instructions immediately. You can also reference it by name in natural language, your AI loads the skill into context when relevant.
Can I share the get-api-docs skill with my team?
Yes. Commit your project's .skills.json lockfile and teammates run `npx @skills-hub-ai/cli install` (no args) to install every skill at the exact version you pinned. Organization-scoped installs work via skills-hub.ai organizations.
