Claude Code is Anthropic's terminal-native AI coding agent, bundled with the Claude Pro ($20/mo) and Max ($100, $200/mo) subscriptions. Launched October 2024, it has iterated continuously through 2025-2026, sub-agents, scheduled tasks (March 2026), voice mode (March 2026), 1M-context Opus 4.7 (April 2026), IDE plugins for VS Code / JetBrains / Zed. Claude Code is the leader on agent autonomy, autonomous multi-step workflows, and production scheduled jobs. It supports the open Agent Skills standard (SKILL.md) natively, every installed skill registers a slash command automatically.
